Okay, so back to that picture in the previous post. I guess I have to talk about that huh. Some of this is quite funny, I do have to admit. My friends got some great laughs over my struggles. It all started the day I hurt it playing basketball at the school . . .
So, I get hurt back in like march or april, I don’t really remember. It could even have been May. Anyways, it was sometime in the Spring. Now, I wasn’t sure exactly if the ACL was blown but I had a pretty good idea. I did avoid going to the doctor because I was somewhat afraid of the answer, even though I knew.
So two quick stories. The first one comes the way of California. In June, a buddy was getting married out there so we all rented a beach house to go hang out for the wedding. The first day at the beach, I wonder in the water, get on a belly board and with the first wave, my knee goes out! Nooooo…it hurt like a B. But, I was able to get it planted into the ground in the water and slide it back in. No big deal. Well, then it happened again about 5 min. later and I wasn’t able to get it in. The water kept hitting me and it was so painful. I ended up crawling up the beach on my hands as my buddies wondered over. I couldn’t get the knee to slide back in. Finally after some agonizing minutes, it slid back in. After that I was very careful as to how I acted near the beach.
So a few weeks pass and I have to go to a basketball camp. As i’m walking down the sidewalk, all of the sudden it goes out again. This was totally weird because I didn’t trip, didn’t fall, there wasn’t any external things pushing on it. It just got locked up. The bad part was that I couldn’t get it to go back in. Nothing I could do shoved it back into it’s place. It was very very painful too. I went and sat down at a picnic table and just like waited until a trainer came on the way. Luckily they had some crutches that were now mine for the weekend. The sad part, the girls took that picture as they were laughing at me from the window, haha. So ya….good start to basketball season.
Ironically, after the california trip I did schedule and MRI. After the basketball trip I went in to get it read and it was indeed a torn ACL.
