Injury 6 occurs when I’m in College at Baldwin Wallace College. I used to love to go to the rec center and pretend like I could actually “Hoop it Up”. Over the course of my life, i’ve sprained my ankles plenty of times, however this would be the worst one i’ve ever had!
So let’s set the story here folks. It was a close game. My team was losing by like 4 points. I had the ball against one of the big football players that was playing on our college football team. I set him up for a sweet Iverson crossover and tried to blow by him. For some reason my dumb ass wasn’t wearing shorts. I was wearing these long workout pants. Sometimes they would be a little too long and cover up the bottom of my shoes. I never really thought that was a big deal.
Well, it turned into a big deal when my shoes hit the ground on top of my pant leg and my ankle turned over. So much for that Iverson Cross! Was more like I crossed myself up and twisted my ankle.
The bad part was this was the worst it’s ever been. I could’t walk or put any pressure on it. Usually, i’ve been able to walk around or at least limp. I couldn’t do anything! The staff there in the rec at least gave me some extra crutches and some ice so I could hobble on those things for the day.
The next day was probably the worst though. I woke up and couldn’t put any pressure at all on my ankle. It took some flexion and time to be able to work it out. Unfortunately this was also the day I had to walk across campus to my furthest class away. I decided that I should just take my car and drive. This is the first time i’ve driven to class and I couldn’t believe how many other people drove. There was no parking anywhere! Finally, I found a spot and parked my vehicle and hobbled to class.
When I came back I noticed that I got my first parking ticket. Great! I guess I parked a little too close to the stop sign. Actually, It was like right there. Totally dumb move!
So, a bad ankle injury turned into a damn $10 parking ticket. Thanks Berea!
