Wow, up to injury number 5 already! Can’t believe i’ve talked about 4 injuries already. I swear, if Ed and his Akron City Towing Services boys get a hold of this, i’ll be the laughing stock of Ohio!
It’s ok though, I can deal with it! Ok, so now that we’ve talked about my leg injuries, lets try a different body part. Hmm, actually this might be back to the arm again! I forgot I talked about my arm already in the lil tree story with injury #1. This one should be a little different though.
So the backstory: I’m a senior in high school. It was during baseball season. One day we were screwing around in the gym playing basketball. I put up a shot that a guy tried to block it but instead just drilled my arm and pushed it backwards. I wasn’t ready for this and it bent my shoulder/arm pretty good. Later that day we had a game in Minerva. We already made the tournament so the game didn’t matter a whole lot. I tried to throw the ball and I couldn’t even warm up! My arm was sooo sore. I then had to play 3rd base which was a stupid, stupid idea. If i couldn’t even warm up and play catch, how the heck was I going to be able to throw to first base. Well it just so happened I played awful, had 2 errors in the first inning. Yes, one of them was a throwing error where the ball scooted to first base.
The downfall from this was that I was always the batting practice pitcher because I was one of the few that could actually throw strikes. So, that stopped for a few days but then started again.
Sometimes even today i still have issues with this shoulder. It doesn’t affect me much when I golf or do other sports, but playing catch always seems to make it a little bit sore.
